Brief Bio

Work Stuff: Melissa has been involved in post-secondary education for over 24 years. She spent most of her early career as an English as an Additional Language instructor, teaching primarily international students the language and academic skills to attend university in North America. For the past decade, Melissa has been working as an Instructional Designer for Thompson Rivers University Open Learning, serving as departmental chair for seven of those years. As a Provost’s Fellow, Blended and Innovative Learning, she worked on a variety of projects to implement innovative and technology-enhanced instruction. Melissa chaired the successful 2014 CNIE Conference “Confluences: Spaces, Places and Cultures for Innovative Learning.” She currently serves as a director-at-large on the CNIE Board of Directors and is the incoming Vice-President.

Life Stuff: Melissa lives in beautiful Kamloops, BC with her husband Trent and  daughters Dulcie and Rory. She also volunteers with her daughter’s choir and as a Girl Guide Leader – a great opportunity for new challenges! She also dotes on a pair of small, fluffy, white dogs – Ginny and Trixie – and is an avid fan of the Coton de Tulear breed!
